Children’s Liturgy

Childrens-liturgyThe Children’s Liturgy is open to all children from around 4 years until 7 years of age when they usually begin their Sacramental Preparation. At the beginning of Mass they process to the Parish Room where they will they will listen to and reflect on the Sunday readings at a level appropriate to their understanding. They may also do some craft activity or colouring in relevant to the readings of the day. They will re-join the congregation following the Offertory Procession and return to their parents for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. All children are encouraged to take part. Parents may accompany their children if they wish.

Infants and Toddlers: Parents of babies and very small children may wish to join families with children of the same age in the side chapel. This gives more soundproofing and allows toddlers more freedom to move about, making it a more relaxed Mass experience for the parents. Age-appropriate books and activities are also available in the side chapel.

Learning: The parish has a variety of books which can be borrowed for children during Mass and parents are encouraged to make use of this facility. These should be returned at the end of Mass. There is also a wide range of children’s Mass books and story books available to buy from the Church Stall.
